About RiftBounce
RiftBounce teaches Riftbound, Riot Games' trading card game, to people who have never played it.
Tools for Riftbound are built for people who already play. The good ones are good at playing: they let you take a deck into a match against another person and pilot it, and they assume you already know what a battlefield is and why you would move a unit to one. None of them is a way in. Someone who has just bought a deck and wants to learn the game has nowhere to start, and reading the Core Rules front to back is not learning. The Core Rules are a reference, and a reference answers the questions you already know how to ask. That gap is the reason this site exists.
The name is the idea: what you learn here should bounce off the page and straight into your next game.
Every lesson is held to the Core Rules. A sentence that states a rule carries a small numbered citation, and opening it shows the rule in Riot's own wording, parsed from their document rather than typed out. The site will not build if a citation names a rule that does not exist. Across 22 lessons and 4 walkthroughs there are 1,145 rule citations today, and every build checks each one against the Core Rules as last updated on 2026-07-16.
RiftBounce is not a simulator, on purpose and by rule. Riot's developer policy forbids software that simulates Riftbound gameplay or enforces its rules, so nothing here plays a turn for you or works out what happens next. Every board on the site is written out by hand, and each frame of a walkthrough is a whole board that somebody sat down and wrote. No frame is computed from the one before it.
That reads like a limitation, and for a beginner it is the better way to learn. Someone new to the game does not need a sandbox to push pieces around in. They need to understand why the board in front of them looks the way it does, and a board written for one lesson can show exactly that and nothing else.
The course is not finished. It is planned as six tracks, and four of them are written: Your first game, Resources, Combat, and Timing. Keywords and Deckbuilding are still to come. There is no card library yet either, so every card in a lesson is a sample made up for teaching.
